how to get good at what you do: a 2 days to 23 entry / onitsha living diaries 27.

getting great at something can be difficult and frustrating. but the worst thing that can happen to you is comparison. Comparison does not just leave you unfulfilled about the goal you’re pursuing but it makes you feel like a fool for pursuing it.

this happens at the times when we begin to compare ourselves to the wins of the people who have gone ahead of us in their respective fields.

as a creator, it's ok to look up to those who have made it or maybe doing better than you, but it becomes a problem when you start feeling like you're not doing enough or you're not meant to be in this space.

even in your personal life, you might not be seeing much growth as the person you are looking up to and it might make you feel inadequate.

just like everything you have heard from motivational/inspirational speakers, comparing yourself to others in your life journey will only end up stalling your growth, because majority of the time you're busy comparing, regretting and beating yourself up about the growth of others.

and like everything you've also heard, i just want you to know that you're doing ok, yea, as long as you are doing what you're supposed to be doing, you're on track and everything will be OK.

it likely took your object of comparison, 10 years and you might still be in your first year. it might not take you that much or it might be more than that. the beautiful and basic thing is that you're growing.

So, focus on your growth darling, you'll get there.

it's debbie.
